Virgo Veldi studied at the Georg Ots Music School from 1984-1988 and graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT) in 1995, obtaining the MA degree cum laude in 1997. At the same time he completed his studies at the Sibelius Academy. Veldi won 3rd prize in the Wooden Instrument Player - Competition in Tallinn (1990), he took part in the International Saxophone Competition in Belgium (1994) and won 1st prize and the public award in the Estonian young musicians competition “Con Brio” (1996).
Virgo Veldi has worked as a saxophone teacher at the Georg Ots Music School and at the Sibelius Lukio in Helsinki. Since 2001 he has taught the saxophone at the EAMT. Virgo Veldi has performed as a soloist with most Estonian orchestras and takes part in the Nyyd Ensemble projects. Since 1999 Virgo Veldi has been the musical director of the saxophone quartet Saxest.
